Boogie Chillin'
Here we are officially in the season of light and joy. This year it can be themed the season of flight. A master teacher of the Jacques Lecoq technique once told us that acting is like bungee jumping. Recent advice given me echoed this same message regarding leaping into the unknown. Today I did just that, I leapt into the role of reporter. Details will follow. Here is a photo of me from the wrap up session.
I took a celebratory walk to St.Patrick's Cathedral quarried my way among the holiday crowd. Lit some candles in the church. And stopped at the Rockettes store to purchase a candle. When I walked out these four young women were leaping across the Avenue of the Americas and agreed for a spontaneous photo op. They hail from the NorthEast Worcester, Massachusetts Collegiate area.
A couple of weeks ago I went to see "The Piano Lesson" at the Signature Theater. It brings boogie woogie to a whole new level. The robust dialogue has a classical feel.
The night I attended the play was the first friday after Hurricane Sandy, and it was a welcome way to get back into civilization, to be among humanity gathered in an audience experiencing one of America's treasured playwright's work. Speaking of work, it's time.
