mid year favorite quotes

Following is sage advice for all walks of life. Incorporate the following attitudes into your daily life practices, and please , if you have advice or stellar words to help make life more meaningful, please pass them on! While viewing this year's Academy Awards Ceremony I remember the exceptional moment when Ben Affleck after being praised by Grant Heslov took his stand at the microphone and mentioned three things that were passed on to him as advice for people who wanted to stay in show business. In this grand moment of accepting an oscar for his film Argo, Ben Affleck took a moment to share this advice given to him : 1. Don't hold grudges, 2. Work harder than you thought you ever could, and 3. Get up. If you're down , get yourself back up. A quote from Howard Thurman: " Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." Thank you for stopping by my blog, and remember no task is too small if it is performed with grace. Stay on the mountain. Climb toward the light.

Bette Davis once said...

In a tribute to the great director Frank Capra, Bette Davis said, " A great director gives the audience a new way to see the world. " When Capra immigrated to America , after a 13 day voyage, he was told an important message by his father upon seeing the statue of liberty coming off the boat, his father referred to Miss Liberty as the greatest sight of freedom. His father said to his young son : "That's the greatest light of freedom Chico, remember that." Capra spoke about living by principles. He said "don't follow trends, start trends." And in regard to cinema he said " Only the morally courageous are worthy of speaking to their fellow men until the dark." He also said " don't compromise , believe in yourself, only the valiant create, only the daring should make films. " America is so blessed to have this young man's spirited idealism grace the shelves of American Film Classics. Capra was a man dedicated to raising the hopes of the human spirit, and believed the power of performances to live forever. Coming soon : a poem I wrote dedicated to New York.

Ruby Tuesday

This past Yule time holiday season in New York City I hailed a cab,  you know , those yellow bubble like vehicles that have talking screens that loop over and over the same pre- recorded information. What ever happened to stopping and smelling the roses? Mac Davis?

It was Christmas day to be exact,  and unbeknownst to me when I got in to the taxi,  one of my ruby earrings fell out. When I arrived at my destination I noticed it was gone,  being hopeful thought I would find it.
When I arrived back home, I decided to retrace my steps and sure enough,  I found it  curbside at the exact location where I got into the taxi.  That was one of my miracles of Christmas.  I hope you dear readers are having a miraculous 2013 filled with safety, blessings, and wisdom.

Speaking of learning.  If it is not too personal , can you share any of the lessons that you have learned so far this year?

My biggest lesson so far this new year is:

1. Choose your heroes wisely.
2.No matter how cold it gets during Winter, Winter can be the most magical of all the seasons because it allows more receptive clear listening. Winter is a great time to nourish the kidney yin energy. One Japanese gardener in my neighborhood mystified me as he shared the following wisdom while he was caring for a bonsai tree. He said winter is the most important season to care for  the plants. So, I leave you with this to ponder and act on: What actions can you take this winter to care for your own life more?

Here we are approaching another holiday, Valentine's Day, and I ask you to channel the Muse Cleo, and Remember Love. Recall Love to make amazing new memories that will resonate into the future with resounding joy.

Today, I shot a segment for Valentine's Day. Here is a photo taken by the editor of the shoot featuring William Herck,  videographer, and myself. Thanks to both of them we had a guided, successful and fun time. Please enjoy the photo here of the cardinal bird who came out to say hello during the January thaw this week, which began with 360 degrees of sunshine on Sunday. A big thank you to January 2013, father time, you rock. Mother Earth we love you in all your grandeur and moods. Love is in fashion for all seasons.
