Bette Davis once said...

In a tribute to the great director Frank Capra, Bette Davis said, " A great director gives the audience a new way to see the world. " When Capra immigrated to America , after a 13 day voyage, he was told an important message by his father upon seeing the statue of liberty coming off the boat, his father referred to Miss Liberty as the greatest sight of freedom. His father said to his young son : "That's the greatest light of freedom Chico, remember that." Capra spoke about living by principles. He said "don't follow trends, start trends." And in regard to cinema he said " Only the morally courageous are worthy of speaking to their fellow men until the dark." He also said " don't compromise , believe in yourself, only the valiant create, only the daring should make films. " America is so blessed to have this young man's spirited idealism grace the shelves of American Film Classics. Capra was a man dedicated to raising the hopes of the human spirit, and believed the power of performances to live forever. Coming soon : a poem I wrote dedicated to New York.
